Outdoor SPEAKERS
Music outdoors changes the atmosphere. Not in a dramatic way — in a quiet, beckoning way. "Stay longer..."
Music outdoors doesn't just sound good — it feels different. It slows you down. It keeps you outside longer. It makes even an ordinary Tuesday evening in the garden feel like something special, something worth remembering.
Conversations last longer.
Dinners stretch into evenings.
The garden gets tended more often.
The patio becomes the room everyone gravitates toward.
It makes outside feel like the place you want to be.
What customers say
After the speakers, we stayed outside."
PLACEMENT
Not too loud, not too soft... just right.
Outdoor sound disappears quickly in open air. We plan speaker locations around dining & seating areas, patios, pools, gardens & decks, so the music feels even and smooth.
No matter where you sit, stand or gather, you always feel like you're at the head of the table.
PLACES
The right tool for the job.
We carry all types of speakers for all types of places, locations, activities and expectations: cooking, dining, relaxing or just hanging out. We use different speaker types to create that kind of space and place that works for everyone.
There are many types of speakers: bollards, landscape satellites, wall-mount speakers, rock speakers and Sonos-based systems all solve different demands, and they’re all about achieving the right sound for the right place.
FOCUS
Sound tailored to where you want to be.
Often, what we want is a sound that is clear, clean and pure, and outdoor audio systems can deliver on that promise. Don’t mistake it, the outdoors without floors, walls and ceiling and their reflections everywhere, has the potential to open up a new acoustic canvas for you.
It’s a fact, sound waves behave differently outdoors. There is an acoustic transparency outdoors that encourages you to spend a lazy afternoon experiencing just how great it sounds and how nice it is to be outside.
EASE
From anywhere on your Smartphone
We engineer our outdoor audio solutions so that what you want to hear and at what volume is right at your fingertips.
Continue your lunch, there is no need to get up, no need to struggle deciphering how to do it. It’s that easy for everyone to use.
Relax, ease back in your chair knowing you’ve got this.
OUTDOOR SPEAKER TYPES
-
BOLLARDS
A bollard speaker rises from the ground like a well sculptured cylinder — and stands on its own, integrates into a landscape bed, a pathway edge, or a poolside border, and delivers sound in all directions. No wall or mounting surface needed. Their architectural appearance allows more opportunities to use in the backyard, patio or near a deck.
Origin Acoustics pioneered the residential bollard speaker, and their Ambisonic series remains the most architecturally refined option available. The anodized aluminum sleeves are available in different finishes — all designed to be attractive and sound great, year after year.
Ideal for: garden paths, lawn perimeters or open areas.

SATELLITE SPEAKERS
If a bollard is a visual statement, a satellite system is the absence of one. Small satellite speakers mount on low stakes in your garden beds or turf, while a dedicated subwoofer is buried in the ground, hidden beneath a natural-looking lid, often called a mushroom. Above grade, you see only small pods peaking out through your landscaping. Below grade, the system is producing the bass that makes it sound full and rich.
This approach is ideal for large, open outdoor spaces where you want sound everywhere without anything that obviously looks like a speaker. The result is a backyard that sounds amazing and looks exactly like a backyard — not an audio installation.

WALL/SURFACE MOUNT
Wall or surface mount speakers are the most common category for covered patios, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, and any space where there's a wall, post, beam, or soffit within reach. They mount like an indoor bookshelf speaker — but they're built for the outdoors, with sealed enclosures, UV-resistant housings, and weather-tested drivers.
The advantage of wall mounting is placement precision. You can aim these speakers directly at your listening area, use the reflecting surface behind them to reinforce bass, and position them at an ideal height and angle for your space. It's the most controllable outdoor speaker option — and when installed properly, the most sonically focused.

FAQ - Outdoor Speakers Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why not just use a portable speaker?
A portable Bluetooth speaker is fine for casual use, but it is not the same as a properly installed outdoor speaker system. Bluetooth speakers create sound from one small location, have relatively low acoustic performance, need to be charged, and struggle to fill a patio, pool area, or backyard evenly.
A permanent outdoor speaker system is designed around your space. The sound is distributed more evenly and the system is ready whenever you step outside. -
How many speakers do I need?
A small covered patio may only need one stereo speaker or a pair of speakers. A larger patio, pool area, or backyard may need four or more speakers to avoid loud spots near one speaker, or one person, and weak sound farther away.
More speakers does not mean more volume. Often, more speakers allow the system to play at a lower, more pleasant level while still sounding full and rich no matter where you or your family sits. -
Are outdoor speakers really waterproof?
Good outdoor speakers are designed to handle moisture, sun, temperature swings, and general outdoor exposure. That said, “outdoor-rated” does not mean every speaker belongs in every location.
Covered patios, open walls, pool areas, gardens, and fully exposed spaces may require different speaker types. Proper product selection and placement are essential if you want the system to last for decades, not a few years. -
Can outdoor speakers sound as good as indoor speakers?
Outdoor audio is different because there are no room boundaries to help reinforce the sound. Bass disappears faster, as sound spreads into open air.
However, with the right speaker type, placement, amplification, and sometimes an outdoor subwoofer, outdoor speakers can sound excellent. The best systems are not harsh or boomy. You will be surprised as how clean and clear outdoor sound is, as there is no walls, floors or ceiling that reflect the sound. Outdoors we want sound that's clean, full, and balanced at low to normal listening levels.
-
Should I add an outdoor subwoofer?
An outdoor subwoofer is worth considering if you want fuller music, better sports sound, or a more high-end backyard entertainment experience. Outdoor speakers alone can sound clear, but they often lack the warmth and low-end weight people expect from a good audio system.
A properly placed outdoor subwoofer fills in the bottom end without needing to play the main speakers too loudly. -
Do outdoor speakers need special wiring?
Yes. Outdoor speakers should use wire rated for the environment, especially if the cable will run underground, through conduit, under eaves, across exterior walls, or near landscaping. Standard indoor speaker wire is not the right choice for long-term outdoor use.
Good wiring also affects reliability. Moisture, UV exposure, poor terminations, and exposed connections can cause corrosion, weak sound, speaker or amplifier failure over time. A clean installation protects the system and keeps the backyard looking finished. -
Can outdoor speakers connect to Sonos or my existing music system?
Yes. Outdoor speakers can often be connected to Sonos, a whole-home audio system, a receiver, an amplifier, or a smart-home control system. The right setup depends on whether you want one outdoor zone, multiple outdoor zones, app control, volume control from a wall keypad, or integration with indoor music areas.
The important part is planning the control system and amplifier correctly before the speakers are installed.icture quality, app delays, and connection drops. -
What speaker is better: wall-mounted speakers, bollards...?
It depends on the space. Wall-mounted speakers are often best for covered patios, outdoor kitchens, and seating areas near the house. Landscape or bollard-style speakers are better for gardens, pools, and larger yards where you want sound spread across the space. Rock speakers can blend into landscaping, though quality varies by brand and design.
The best choice comes down to coverage, appearance, wiring options, and how visible you want the speakers to be.
The Process - High-Fidelity Made Simple
We transform your vision into a perfectly tuned outdoor soundscape, handling every technical detail along the way.
1. Defining Your Soundscape
We start by understanding how you use your space. Whether you want high-energy audio for large gatherings or subtle, ambient music for quiet evenings, we listen to your goals so we can design a system that fits your lifestyle perfectly.
2. Acoustic & Site Evaluation
We walk the property to evaluate the "acoustic footprint." We identify mounting locations, wiring paths, and network coverage while considering neighborly privacy. By understanding your landscape's layout, we ensure even sound coverage without "hot spots."
